About this book
"The automotive maven and former Member of Parliament might be the most trusted man in Canada, an inverse relationship to the people he writes about." -- "The Globe and Mail" "Lemon-Aid" shows car and truck buyers how to pick the cheapest and most reliable vehicles from the past 30 years of auto production. This brand-new edition of the bestselling guide contains updated information on secret service bulletins that can save you money. Phil describes sales and service scams, lists which vehicles are factory goofs, and sets out the prices you should pay. As Canada's automotive "Dr. Phil" for over 40 years, Edmonston pulls no punches. His "Lemon-Aid" is more potent and provocative than ever.

This review is from: 2001 01 Infiniti I30 Keyless Entry Remote - 4 Button I wanted to use it first before writing a fair review based on its performance. The delivery was fast and package well packed with clear and precise instructions. It’s going on six months and its still working without any problems. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about the product since the price was a little bit on the low end, but the only problem I’ve had was with the initial programming; it took me about three tries to get the timing right. I would definitely buy it again if I had to. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 14, 2012

Need bluetooth, like mp3s, no aux jack, look no further!!

This is a very capable bluetooth system. Parrot has made a great product. If self-installing, it is strongly recommend that you utilize the harness recommended by the manufacturer on their website. This could have been a complicated install, but it was actually plug and play. The mki9200 was installed in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid with Navigation. Many diagnostic functions of the car are inextricably integrated with the NAV/stereo system, so I was definitely not going to take out the NAV. Furthermore, the Navigation/stereo work great. The problem that needed to be solved was getting a way to play mp3 without using an FM transmitter (FM transmitters are notorious for horrible sound/interference, etc.) and getting bluetooth in this vehicle without replacing the NAV/stereo system. This is where the Parrot Mki9200 answered all these needs. The hardest part of the install was getting to the back of the nav/stereo system, once there, unplugged the nav/stereo, plugged the harness... 5/5 Jethro "electronic addict" (Southern, CA USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Fantastic solution

This unit reminds me of an apple product at its best -- it does exactly what it is supposed to do, elegantly and intuitively.About a year ago, I installed a USA-Spec solution to play my i-pod through my factory stereo. It had taken a while to find a hard-wired ipod solution which allowed continued use of satellite radio, which was very important. The USA-Spec did the job, but with a number of significant limitations. First, while it displayed track information through the factory stereo display, the limitations of that display (a single line of text) made it less than ideal. Second, I found the control of the ipod through the factory stereo awkward -- it was hard to scroll through artists, albums, tracks, etc., due to frequent lags in loading the information and automatically selecting the displayed menu selection after a few seconds. Basically, this product did provide a hard-wired ipod connection and retained my factory satellite, but the limitations on the... 5/5 J. Perry (virginia usa) - See all my reviews, April 10, 2010

    Works well for the price...

I've been pretty nervous looking for a decent but affordable bike rack. After initially getting an Outback Rack from Target, I was disappointed by the flimsy construction and had to return it. I did some more researching and wasn't able to find any reviews for low-mid-priced racks online. Found a Bell 3-bike rack from Walmart and later on a Bell 2-bike rack from Sports Authority. These were a lot sturdier but also quite heavy.I have a mountain bike that weighs about 35lbs. A friend of mine has a road bike that weighs about 25lbs. I kept looking and finally settled on the Allen because of the price, design and construction.(I took a star off for aesthetics. The foam supports are grey. The top and bottom struts are unpainted silver aluminum, and the caps at the end of the rack are white.)A couple of things I learned:* cloth/nylon strap tie downs are better than plastic or rubber which become brittle after repeated use and exposure... 4/5 Alvin Tanhehco "kerki" (Kowloon, Hong Kong) - See all my reviews, July 25, 2005

Great buy for the price!!! Please read my helpful review!

Used this trunk mount to bring my mtn bike to Alaska this summer. Drove 3,000+ miles from Utah to Alaska on the Al-Can highway and had NO PROBLEMS at all. Everytime I stopped for gas I would check my bike and the mount. Everything was fine. The road was VERY bumpy in the Yukon. The mount kept my bike very secure through it all. I was a bit nervous because a couple people reviewed this product saying that the mount came loose or the bike pedals scratched the car. I didn't experience these problems. During my 6 day trip I had put the bike on and tightened the straps every morning before I left. I never had to re-tighten the straps after I had initially mounted my bike each day (but did check them regularly just in case). Thought about buying some of the more pricey models... Very glad I went with this one and spent under $50. No need to pay $100+ on other mounts when this one works perfectly. Overall VERY satisfied with this product.Tips for prospective buyers:I... 5/5 Taylor - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Siriusly cool, but some disappointment

I've waited for three months for the S50 to come out. I finally found one and had it installed professionally in my car. I love what the S50 can do, and I'm overall very pleased, but I have some problems with the S50. First the good stuff. It's a great design with an awesome LCD display. The station, artist and song are always visible. None of the scrolling stuff. The base has a rotating know to change channels, replay songs, press to record a song you like while it's playing and a host of other options. Very cool. The removable lightweight unit is about the size of 2/3 of a deck of playing cards. With this unit, you can remove it from your car, plug in the headphones and play your downloaded MP3's and recorded content from sirius. The rechargeable battery is supposed to last around six hours. I haven't drained it yet. It recharges automatically when plugged into the base unit. Additionally, it will automatically download music from your three most listened to... 4/5 R. Winter "Huskerzn97" (Kansas City, MO USA) - See all my reviews, December 8, 2005

    Great Idea, Very Poor Execution.

First off, let me say that I view the current S50 as a prototype. I think they rushed to market in order to have the product available by the time Stern started broadcasting. The fact that none of the accesories (including the home dock) are available yet shows that this product was rushed. The bugs and missing features, too, indicate a rushed release. Wait a few months and you will probably see prices drop, reliability increase, and features added.Missing features: (1) There are no audio settings (not even the omnipresent "bass boost"). It should be against the law at this point to release a product like this without at least some sort of rudimentary equalizer. I have found the sound to be very poor largely because of this. The bass is lacking and the highs sound tinny. (2) If you are listening to one of your automatically recorded favorite channels in playback mode and leave the playback and return, you do not return to the point where you left (even if you don't turn... 3/5 Anthony (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews, December 30, 2005

    Do The Research!!!

Anyone giving this product less than 4 stars is Ignorant and/or bitter, because they spent over 300 bucks on something they didn't research or don't know how to use. NO it does not get live broadcast without being docked (either in your car or in your home) But it doesn't claim to!, and NO you can not set up a recording segment (longer than simply recording one song) for any of the music stations(but this isn't nearly as important as i originally thought it would be)Let me tell you what it can do. I've had mine for a little over a day now so I'm not an expert YET but i have gotten pretty familiar with the product. The most important/impressive thing that this product does (which has been overlooked by or atleast not explained clearly by anyone YET) is the "MY sirius Channels" function. Your S50 will "automatically" ( I left my unit on and docked while I went to sleep) record content from your most listened to channels...which in my case was the channel that i left it... 5/5 Mr. John S.
