About this book
"The automotive maven and former Member of Parliament might be the most trusted man in Canada, an inverse relationship to the people he writes about." -- "The Globe and Mail" "Lemon-Aid" shows car and truck buyers how to pick the cheapest and most reliable vehicles from the past 30 years of auto production. This brand-new edition of the bestselling guide contains updated information on secret service bulletins that can save you money. Phil describes sales and service scams, lists which vehicles are factory goofs, and sets out the prices you should pay. As Canada's automotive "Dr. Phil" for over 40 years, Edmonston pulls no punches. His "Lemon-Aid" is more potent and provocative than ever.

How did I live without this?!

I've been interested in HD radio for about a year and a half now. Over that time, I had installed two external HD radio tuners in my car. The first was Visteon HD Jump directly connected to my AUX in line through a JVC KD-SX75 head unit. When I sold that car, I bought and had the JVC KT-HDP1 installed in my new car, connected to the cars' head unit by an FM transmitter. After using these, I wanted to get a head unit with an HD Radio tuner built in, as well as having an input for an MP3 player.I wish I had found this product much earlier than I did. This unit is ready for what I currently have, as well as ready for and will control iPods, XM and/or Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a JVC CD changer through the head unit out of the box, though you'd have to buy those products separately.HD Radio on this is a great feature. In addition to AM and FM signals sounding better because of HD Radio, most stations display the track titles and artists of the songs... 5/5 Rob (3rd Rock from the Sun, FL, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: JVC Car KDHDR30 In-Dash CD Receiver with HD Radio Tuner (Electronics) I've been interested in HD radio for about a year and a half now. Garish, but lovable for all that it does

Pros:Does everything well.Cons:1. Garish - bright silver chromed plastic beams out from sickeningly festive red and blue lights around the main controls. i took off the plastic volume knob, removed the black rubber band around the knob, then sanded the chrome finish off the knob and spray painted it black. Then I put the rubber band back on and remounted the knob. This is the only piece that's easy to refinish, but it helps.2. Using the iPod controller (optional) takes away the the ability to connect other JVC optional accessories, such as bluetooth.3. Runs a tad warm, but this hasn't caused any problems, yet.If you run into the problem with the CD player making clicking sounds, download the firmware update from JVC's website, unzip it, burn it to a CD and update your unit.Other than the appearance of this unit, I'm very happy with it - it's very fully featured. Nice theory, but don't bother

The mere thought of a combination satellite radio/cd/radio boombox delights the ears. I needed a CD player/radio AND wanted to be able to listen to my XM radio, so I gave this boombox a try. What a disappointment. The main problem is the background noise on the XM radio. The faint high-pitched hum only occurs when listening to the XML radio. The CD player and radio sound fine, however, CDs skip and sometimes hesitate to play. Removing the XM radio takes some practice. You snap the unit into the adapter, which is fine, but to remove it, you have to push on the radio until the unit slides forward. That was my experience. If you don't already own a Delphi XM radio, consider the Audiophase satellite radio Skybox with AM/FM/CD/MP3 player. Or you could add a receiver to an XM radio family plan,[...].Pros:- Radio and cd player fidelity- Intuitive buttonsCons:- Background noise- Skipping CDs- Awkward way to insert and remove XM... 1/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews This review is from: Delphi Sa 10034 Skyfi Cd Audio System (Electronics) The mere thought of a combination satellite radio/cd/radio boombox delights the ears. This one's going back.

When I hooked up my SkyFi radio in this device and turned on the unit, what I heard was a constant low frequency oscillating sound - the best I can describe it is a "motorboat" noise. I heard the satellite radio, but during quiet passages - especially on talk shows and interviews/comments on radio channels - it was extremely annoying. So, I tried muting the sound and the noise continued unabated at the same volume. You could mask it by turning up the volume, but on some jazz, classical, and talk channels it was always there, annoyingly so.I tried using headphones, thinking it was a speaker problem, but it was still there. Then, I figured it might be a bad power supply and tried batteries - annoying background sound was still there. So this item is going back - it's a real shame because it's a nice device, but fails miserably in it's intended purpose (at least for me) and that is making satellite radio portable.I tried AM and FM radio and the performance is... 1/5 S. This review is from: MTX RT500D Mono Block Class D 500-Watt Amplifier (Electronics) Provides the umph needed to drive two 12s that the 250D didn't have. Unfortunately, the remote gain control I installed with the 250D is not compatible with the 500D so I've learned to live without it as I don't feel like ripping up the interior again to change the cables. Awsome little amp!!!

0 5/5 Avedis1999 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: MTX RT500D Mono Block Class D 500-Watt Amplifier (Electronics) This is the 3rd amp I've purchased, one in my girls car, one for a customer, and one for my step sons car. I don't know why such a low rating, I've always trusted mtx and always will. I have a older model mtx that I've had for over 13 years and still tickin strong!!!! Huge power and small package pretty much stick it anywhere in the vehicle. If you're tight on space but don't want to comprimise performance, this amp is for you!!! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 12, 2015

LoL! I hate that I like it!

So... A 4000 watt peak power amp for less than $140(price includes next day shipping). Just get it. I bought this amp because my 2 expensive Orion XTR15001's blew. I bought this as a quick replacement amp/backup so i wouldn't be without bass for two long weeks. I had to send my amps in for repairs. Man, this thing has power for sure. My setup is: 6 Kicker CVR 12's dual 4ohms, wired down to 1.5 ohms, a huge custom vented box with 3 chambers 2-2-2(subs facing up/not a wall), I was somehow able to connect 0 guage wires, two Optima batteries, and some other goodies. All in a 3rd Gen Exploder. Comparing this amp to other high brand amps like Kicker, Orion, JL, Rockford, etc... this thing is awesome for the price. This amp basically forces power to your subs. The bad part is that it lacks clarity. Something that I truly look for when buying an amp. I feel like i have 4 15's in an old school boxed Chevy without dyno... It's kind of sloppy. If your system doesn't normally hit the highs, this... 4/5 The Guy - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) *WAS* very happy with my purchase

i have 2 of these strapped together pushing my 2 15" kicker L7 2ohm dvcpros:*affordable*they aren't massive in size compared to "some" other higher priced amplifiers*easily adjusted*plenty of power: (RMS) 3.5kw@1ohm, 2.5kw@2ohm, 1.8kw@4ohmcons:*car needs a decent alternator+batteries to keep up*they get "pretty warm" in my torture tests but "not hot"other things you should keep in mind:i may be wrong, but here is my basic math to figure the power requirements of the alternator.lets use the rms wattage for a 2ohm single channel setup for one of these AC5000.1D's.2,500/12=208.333... simply divide the required wattage by the voltage the system runs on to get the required amperage.if you cant afford a good alternator you better invest in some very good deep cycle batteries and capacitors.dont forget to also invest in some good wiring too. solid copper 0gauge if you can... 1/5 Seth M. Could Not Be Happier

I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but I think this product should receive some good feedback. Planet audio has actually been around a long time and has some really good products. I installed this amplifier in my dodge neon along with two Quantum audio QAW10D4 subwoofers rated 2500W each in a ported box. This amp has 4awg power connectors which I think is the only drawback. It should have 1/0 connectors. it comes with a 200A ANL external fuse with all hardware and mounting accessories. Some sites and forums are saying it has 4 40A fuses, but that is incorrect. The amp is rather large and very well built. It has 3500W RMS at 1 ohm, 5000max which is probably why it has that large of a fuse. It has good ventilation all around and underneath. The sound is very clean and so far I have not hit the audible distortion point and I definitely have not hit clipping, although I have not tried to push it that far yet. All of my deck bass levels and sub levels are flat at... 5/5 JayDogg "Jason" (Arizona) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
