About this book
"The automotive maven and former Member of Parliament might be the most trusted man in Canada, an inverse relationship to the people he writes about." -- "The Globe and Mail" "Lemon-Aid" shows car and truck buyers how to pick the cheapest and most reliable vehicles from the past 30 years of auto production. This brand-new edition of the bestselling guide contains updated information on secret service bulletins that can save you money. Phil describes sales and service scams, lists which vehicles are factory goofs, and sets out the prices you should pay. As Canada's automotive "Dr. Phil" for over 40 years, Edmonston pulls no punches. His "Lemon-Aid" is more potent and provocative than ever.

This review is from: 2001 01 Infiniti I30 Keyless Entry Remote - 4 Button I wanted to use it first before writing a fair review based on its performance. The delivery was fast and package well packed with clear and precise instructions. It’s going on six months and its still working without any problems. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about the product since the price was a little bit on the low end, but the only problem I’ve had was with the initial programming; it took me about three tries to get the timing right. I would definitely buy it again if I had to. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 14, 2012

Need bluetooth, like mp3s, no aux jack, look no further!!

This is a very capable bluetooth system. Parrot has made a great product. If self-installing, it is strongly recommend that you utilize the harness recommended by the manufacturer on their website. This could have been a complicated install, but it was actually plug and play. The mki9200 was installed in a 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid with Navigation. Many diagnostic functions of the car are inextricably integrated with the NAV/stereo system, so I was definitely not going to take out the NAV. Furthermore, the Navigation/stereo work great. The problem that needed to be solved was getting a way to play mp3 without using an FM transmitter (FM transmitters are notorious for horrible sound/interference, etc.) and getting bluetooth in this vehicle without replacing the NAV/stereo system. This is where the Parrot Mki9200 answered all these needs. The hardest part of the install was getting to the back of the nav/stereo system, once there, unplugged the nav/stereo, plugged the harness... 5/5 Jethro "electronic addict" (Southern, CA USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Fantastic solution

This unit reminds me of an apple product at its best -- it does exactly what it is supposed to do, elegantly and intuitively.About a year ago, I installed a USA-Spec solution to play my i-pod through my factory stereo. It had taken a while to find a hard-wired ipod solution which allowed continued use of satellite radio, which was very important. The USA-Spec did the job, but with a number of significant limitations. First, while it displayed track information through the factory stereo display, the limitations of that display (a single line of text) made it less than ideal. Second, I found the control of the ipod through the factory stereo awkward -- it was hard to scroll through artists, albums, tracks, etc., due to frequent lags in loading the information and automatically selecting the displayed menu selection after a few seconds. Basically, this product did provide a hard-wired ipod connection and retained my factory satellite, but the limitations on the... 5/5 J. Perry (virginia usa) - See all my reviews, April 10, 2010

    Siriusly cool, but some disappointment

I've waited for three months for the S50 to come out. I finally found one and had it installed professionally in my car. I love what the S50 can do, and I'm overall very pleased, but I have some problems with the S50. First the good stuff. It's a great design with an awesome LCD display. The station, artist and song are always visible. None of the scrolling stuff. The base has a rotating know to change channels, replay songs, press to record a song you like while it's playing and a host of other options. Very cool. The removable lightweight unit is about the size of 2/3 of a deck of playing cards. With this unit, you can remove it from your car, plug in the headphones and play your downloaded MP3's and recorded content from sirius. The rechargeable battery is supposed to last around six hours. I haven't drained it yet. It recharges automatically when plugged into the base unit. Additionally, it will automatically download music from your three most listened to... 4/5 R. Winter "Huskerzn97" (Kansas City, MO USA) - See all my reviews, December 8, 2005

    Great Idea, Very Poor Execution.

First off, let me say that I view the current S50 as a prototype. I think they rushed to market in order to have the product available by the time Stern started broadcasting. The fact that none of the accesories (including the home dock) are available yet shows that this product was rushed. The bugs and missing features, too, indicate a rushed release. Wait a few months and you will probably see prices drop, reliability increase, and features added.Missing features: (1) There are no audio settings (not even the omnipresent "bass boost"). It should be against the law at this point to release a product like this without at least some sort of rudimentary equalizer. I have found the sound to be very poor largely because of this. The bass is lacking and the highs sound tinny. (2) If you are listening to one of your automatically recorded favorite channels in playback mode and leave the playback and return, you do not return to the point where you left (even if you don't turn... 3/5 Anthony (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews, December 30, 2005

How did I live without this?!

I've been interested in HD radio for about a year and a half now. Over that time, I had installed two external HD radio tuners in my car. The first was Visteon HD Jump directly connected to my AUX in line through a JVC KD-SX75 head unit. When I sold that car, I bought and had the JVC KT-HDP1 installed in my new car, connected to the cars' head unit by an FM transmitter. After using these, I wanted to get a head unit with an HD Radio tuner built in, as well as having an input for an MP3 player.I wish I had found this product much earlier than I did. This unit is ready for what I currently have, as well as ready for and will control iPods, XM and/or Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a JVC CD changer through the head unit out of the box, though you'd have to buy those products separately.HD Radio on this is a great feature. In addition to AM and FM signals sounding better because of HD Radio, most stations display the track titles and artists of the songs... 5/5 Rob (3rd Rock from the Sun, FL, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: JVC Car KDHDR30 In-Dash CD Receiver with HD Radio Tuner (Electronics) I've been interested in HD radio for about a year and a half now. 0 4/5 Brett B - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lc7 - Audiocontrol Six Channel Line Output Converter with Auxiliary Input (Electronics) I bought this product a year ago to utilize all signal sources from my head unit to be able to run multiple amps. Since then i have upgraded head unit that has 6 channel RCA outputs but still considering using the LC7 for more output signals for next big stereo upgrade. The LC7 workred well and would recommend it to anyone wanting more RCA channels to run amps. I have split RCA siganls and not sure if the signal was reduced but this procssor will eleminate any need to. Thank You Amazon for giving options on finding a good product like this. We have a basic bass boat and just wanted some music for fishing and what not...He installed this and it works awesome! He loves it too. Sound is really good (its actually louder then we expected) and its just what we wanted. Some people wrote that the speakers were "ok" but I think they are just fine. No complaints and we have enjoyed it so much. Would recommend! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 23, 2012

This review is from: Dual MXCP66 In-Dash Marine AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receiver 6 1/2-Inch Speaker Combo Pack - White (Electronics) This radio works great in my pontoon! I was expecting a $100 radio and what I got was something much more! I am very impressed with how well this radio works. It sounds great as I added the 2 speakers to my existing speakers so now there are 4 hooked up! Plenty of power and range! Would definitely buy again for different boat! Very happy for the the money spent and I am an Audiophile. My cars are all JL Audio and Eclipse and Alpine decks and I just didn't want to spend that money on a boat that is used 25 times a year. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 10, 2012

Second Dual Marine Stereo to fail me...

0 1/5 Mark Sira - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Dual MXCP66 In-Dash Marine AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receiver 6 1/2-Inch Speaker Combo Pack - White (Electronics) This deck never worked right from the get go. The CD player would not load CD's. Trying to load any disc resulted in just a clicking sound from inside the deck. This is funny because the reason I bought the deck was to replace another Dual Marine Stereo that wouldn't load CD's either. Also, the USB functionality does not work right. It read and started playing a USB flash drive that I inserted, but stopped after about three songs. It then started scanning through all the folders (but not playing anything). After a minute or so of this scanning, it just plain refused to read from the USB drive at all. I tried 4 other flash drives with the same result. So, this one is going back and I'm going to look for something from a more reputable manufacturer. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 23, 2010

    Great for the price

I use to have a pioneer avic z1 that was $2k or so new until it was stolen out of my car. For $200 bucks this is not a replacement of what that did, but it is great for the price. The tv clarity is good, but you better have some tinted windows and make the brightness 100% to see anything at day time. Very capable of viewing from different angles and at night time, competes with said pioneer. the radio works fine and i use the remote so i can get to my presets and turn off the display. The display is very blue and quite annoying and cheap looking. The touchscreen works well, the BT is nice as it loads up the phone once the car is started and will allow you to play pandora wirelessly. Sound is good for music, the eq doesnt seem to offer to much range, but it did make me realize i have a stock subwoofer in the trunk. there are a couple of input/output cables for more tv's/ps3 etc. that is nice. ive yet to use any of the other options.I recommend this for people who would... 4/5 aa - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Gets the job done, a good unit

I saw this on amazon and the price was so good I couldn't pass it up....per then description it does everything I wanted it to do. Bluetooth capability, iPod/iPhone connectivity, plays DVDs and video files, rear camera hook up, aux capability, has SD card slot...it's great right? Well I can say with confidence that this product meets expectations. I almost went with a pioneer which cost a good bit more but was trying to stay on a budget since this did everything the pioneer unit I was looking at did minus the flashy screen savers and background image capability. Some notes about this unit:DIM SCREEN easy fix:I read alot of complaints about the screen being to dim in other reviews about this unit...yes this is the case initially when watching videos and movies. What you have to do is hit the OSD button on the supplied remote control while watching your media and you can then adjust the brightness...press OSD again to also adjust contrast and color... 4/5 T0wNH3r0 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
